I worked to change the law in Parliament so the police now have new powers to seize dangerous bikes faster. More bikes are now being seized in our towns as a result.
It was good to meet up with the Wakefield & Five Towns police team who are putting those new powers into practice and cracking down on these bikes because we know how dangerous they are and our streets should be safe for everyone.
I drew up the new law for the Labour Government exactly because of the problems we’ve had round here as well as elsewhere in the country. And I’ve been talking to West Yorkshire Police about whether they can start using drones to track bikes too.
Action nationally and locally to keep our communities safe.
